Parkview Health keeps securing more partnerships

The Indiana health system reached another hospital affiliation agreement with Goshen Health and is planning to acquire Ovation Healthcare.

Parkview Health in Indiana has been ramping up affiliations with other hospitals in Indiana, and the system is also engaging in partnerships beyond hospitals.

Last week, Parkview signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ovation Healthcare, a Tennessee firm that offers a variety of services, including leadership advisory, revenue cycle management and technology services to more than 500 healthcare organizations.

Rick Henvey, CEO of Parkview Health, said in a statement that the acquisition of Ovation reflects the system’s push to do more to support rural providers.

“With Ovation Healthcare, we are extending Parkview's proven operational depth across the nation to help rural providers remain independent, while continuing to drive down administrative costs for our local patients,” Henvey said in a statement.

“Rural healthcare is in crisis across the country because of a lack of resources and models that allow providers to succeed,” he said. “Through Ovation, we can help rural providers lower the cost of care with essential infrastructure and allow them to focus their resources on patient care.”

Dr. Dwayne Gunter, CEO of Ovation Healthcare, said joining Parkview will enable more substantial investments in its staff and capabilities.

“Parkview was the clear choice for Ovation’s next chapter because it shares our commitment to strengthening community healthcare and values the financial discipline of the shared services platform that has made Ovation a trusted partner to its clients,” Gunter said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Parkland finalized its affiliation agreement with Goshen Health, which operates a 105-bed hospital and a network of clinics. The hospital is now branded Parkview Goshen Hospital, serving patients in northern Indiana and southern Michigan.

‘Creating new opportunities’

Based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Parkview operates 16 hospitals, with a total of about 1,400 beds, and 300 physician group sites. The system serves patients in Indiana, northwest Ohio, and now part of Michigan with the Goshen acquisition.

Parkview announced its intention to partner with Goshen Health in January 2026. Randy Christophel, president and chief executive officer of Goshen Health, said at the time that partnering with Parkview provided “the most responsible way” to strengthen care and ensure the organization’s future.

After the deal was finalized earlier this month, Christophel said patients will benefit from the additional resources Parkview provides

“For more than a century, Goshen Health has been built on the trust of our patients, the dedication of our colleagues and a shared commitment to caring for our neighbors,” Christophel said in a statement. “Joining Parkview allows us to honor that legacy while creating new opportunities to strengthen healthcare close to home.”

Affiliations and construction

Parkview has been securing more affiliation agreements with independent hospitals in Indiana over the past couple of years.

In September, Parkview and Witham Health Services signed an affiliation agreement. Witham’s main campus in Lebanon, Indiana includes a 60-bed hospital. Regulators must still sign off on the transaction before Witham joins the Parkview system.

Last November, Parkview signed an affiliation agreement with Riverview Health in Hamilton County. Riverview operates a 156-bed hospital, a 16-bed hospital, three combined ER/urgent care facilities and 10 primary care clinics.

In July 2025, Logansport Memorial Hospital joined Parkview Health, and the facility is now Parkview Logansport Hospital. It’s an 83-bed hospital based in Cass County.

Parkview is also investing $200 million to build a new, 40-bed hospital in the Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, Indiana. The facility will also offer primary and specialty care, outpatient services, and additional space for future expansion.

The new hospital is slated to open in 2028.
