Some Dignity hospitals in the Sacramento market will have new chief executives later this month.
Dignity Health names new leaders in Sacramento area
Dignity Health announced a series of leadership changes at hospitals in the Sacramento, California market. The moves take effect Nov. 25.
Brian Evans will become president and CEO of Mercy General Hospital. He will also retain his position as president and CEO of Mercy Hospital of Folsom. With the move, he will step down as president and CEO of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.
Evans had led Sierra Nevada since 2018. He became president and CEO of Mercy Hospital of Folsom earlier this year.
Gregory Eberhart has been named interim president and CEO at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.
A cardiologist, Eberhart has served as chief medical officer of Mercy San Juan Medical Center. He also has experience as interim chief physician executive for Dignity Health Greater Sacramento Market. Eberhart is a former commander in the U.S. Navy and held leadership posts on the hospital ship USNS Mercy.
Gena Bravo has been named as interim president and CEO of Woodland Memorial Hospital. She has been serving as chief operations officer and chief nurse executive.
Previously, Bravo had been a long-time nursing leader at Mercy General Hospital. She oversaw nursing care financial and operational areas, patient experience, quality management and regulatory affairs.
AdventHealth names new CEO for Florida hospital
Jason Newmyer has been named president and CEO for the recently announced 80-bed hospital in Riverview, Florida, AdventHealth announced. He took the post Nov. 7. He serves as vice president/administrator for AdventHealth Dade City, just outside Tampa, and he will continue in that role until a replacement can be found.
Newmyer held several positions at AdventHealth West Florida Division’s flagship hospital in Tampa, including assistant vice president of specialty service lines, assistant vice president of strategic planning and senior consultant.
Parkland Health in Dallas names exec VP, COO
Edmundo Castañeda has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, Texas. The move was announced Nov. 9 and he’ll assume his new role in early January. He replaces David Lopez, who retired in May.
He has had more than 20 years of experience in healthcare leadership positions. He served as president of Mercy General Hospital and Woodland Memorial Hospital for DignityHealth in the Sacramento area. From 2015-17, he was responsible for Mercy General Hospital and Mercy Hospital of Folsom.
Texas Hospital Association names new CEO
John Hawkins has been named the new president and CEO of the Texas Hospital Association. The move was announced Nov. 8. He’ll begin his new role Jan. 1.
The association represents hospitals of all size throughout Texas. Hawkins has been with the association for 17 years. He has been the association’s senior vice president of advocacy and public policy.
