
Temple Health CEO retires, and a new leader is named | MED MOVES
CommonSpirit Health appoints a new chief financial officer, and other leaders take on new roles.
After leading Temple Health for more than five years, MIchael Young is stepping down.
Young is retiring as president and CEO of Temple Health. He’ll step down on Jan. 2, 2026.
The Philadelphia-based health system has named Young’s successor. Abhi Rastogi will be Temple Health’s new president and CEO.
Rastogi most recently served as president and CEO of Temple University Hospital and chief operating officer of Temple Health;
“Temple Health is strongly positioned for the future, and Abhi is the right leader to continue our strategic path and build on what we have already achieved,” Young said in a statement. “Working with Temple’s dedicated caregivers, clinicians, and professional services teams has been the greatest honor of my career.”
Rastogi said he is “honored and humbled to serve as CEO of Temple Health.”
“From the bedside to our leadership teams and every department that supports our mission, Temple Health is strong because of its people,” Rastogi said in a statement. “We play different roles, but we are united by a deep commitment to our patients and an innovative, forward-looking approach that drives our momentum.”
Rastogi is a graduate of Temple’s Fox School of Business, and he has spent more than 20 years with Temple Health.
Temple University President John Fry hailed Rastogi’s experience and his deep ties to Temple.

This internal transition demonstrates stability, strength, and continuity of purpose at Temple Health,” Fry said in a statement. “Abhi is highly respected within the Temple community, known for his passion, integrity, and shoulder-to-shoulder leadership style. Working with Mike Young and the entire Health System team, Abhi has played a vital role in meeting Temple Health’s mission and achieving sustainable growth.”
Young came to Temple in 2018, initially serving as chief operating officer. He was named CEO of Temple University Hospital in 2019 and became CEO of Temple Health in 2020.
CommonSpirit Health appoints chief financial officer
Michael P. Browning has been named senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of CommonSpirit Health.
Browning will begin serving in the new role Jan. 2. He will succeed Daniel Morissette, who is retiring.
“I am honored to join CommonSpirit Health, an organization with an unwavering commitment to its mission and a truly impactful scale,” Browning said in a statement. “I look forward to collaborating with Wright and the entire leadership team to advance financial strategy, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure CommonSpirit Health is well-positioned for sustainable growth and continued service to our communities.”
In his new role, Browning will manage all financial operations of CommonSpirit, which operates 138 hospitals and more than 2,200 healthcare locations in 24 states.
Browning possesses more than 30 years of experience in healthcare finance positions. Most recently, he served as chief financial Officer at OhioHealth, a $7.5 billion health system with 19 hospitals.
Wright Lassiter III, CEO of CommonSpirit Health, called Browning “a seasoned financial leader with a profound understanding of complex healthcare systems and a proven track record of driving financial strength and strategic growth.”
“His expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we work to navigate a complex and evolving healthcare landscape and deliver on our mission,” Lassiter said in a statement.
American Nurses Enterprise names senior VP
Sarah E. Gray has been named senior vice president of nursing impact for the American Nurses Enterprise.
Gray will join the organization on Nov. 17. The American Nurses Enterprise includes the American Nurses Association, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and the American Nurses Foundation.
“I’m excited to join the American Nurses Enterprise in this role, amplifying nursing impact as the enterprise imagines itself into 2040,” Gray said in a statement. “The American Nurses Enterprise has demonstrated tremendous success in this space, and I am humbled to join the team in this new role.”
Gray most recently served as the chief nursing officer of Sigma. In her new role, she will oversee programs designed to improve the work environment for nurses and the organization’s Minority Fellowship Program.
Angela Beddoe, CEO of the American Nurses Enterprise, said in a statement, “Sarah represents the very best of nursing leadership.”
FMOL Health names new chief security officer
Eric Sean Clay has been named the new chief security officer of FMOL Health in Louisiana.
Clay brings more than 30 years of experience to the post. Most recently, he served as vice president of security services at Memorial Hermann Health System, overseeing security for 17 hospitals and 300 outpatient facilities.
“I am honored to join FMOL Health and contribute to a culture that prioritizes safety, innovation and faith-based care,” Clay said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the FMOL Health team to ensure every patient, visitor and team member feels secure, supported and valued.”
E.J. Kuiper, president and CEO of FMOL Health, said Clay’s experience makes him an ideal choice to oversee the health system’s security services. The Catholic health system operates nine hospital campuses.
“Eric’s strategic vision and innovative approach to security will strengthen every aspect of our operations,” Kuiper said in a statement. “His leadership will safeguard our people and facilities and allow FMOL Health to continue focusing on what matters most, delivering compassionate, faith-driven care to our communities.”
