Jamie Youssef will lead Ascension Texas, and other leaders are tackling new roles.
Jamie Youssef has been appointed the next chief executive officer of Ascension Texas.

He’ll begin his new role on June 1. He brings over 23 years of experience to the new role.
“I am excited to begin my leadership journey at Ascension Texas,” Youssef said in a statement. “My passion for healthcare started early on with a physician father and laboratory technician mother. I look forward to aligning my passion and experience with the deep-rooted legacy of Ascension Texas to serve our associates and patients.”
Most recently, Youssef served as senior vice president of network development and service lines with HCA Healthcare. He also served as vice president at Integrated Health Strategies, a healthcare consulting firm, and he has held leadership posts at OhioHealth and Grant Medical Center.
Chris Mowan, senior vice president and regional operating officer for Ascension, said Youssef joins the organization as Ascension looks to expand its programs across central Texas.
“A proven leader in health system operations and strategic development, we are confident that Jamie’s leadership talents will continue to grow Ascension’s mission and advance the health of the communities our hospitals and clinics serve,” Mowan said in a statement.

Corewell Health announces regional president
Josh Kooistra has been named president of Corewell Health’s West Michigan division.
He has been interim president since December 2024. He formerly served as senior vice president and chief medical officer of Corewell Health in West Michigan.
Kooistra joined Corewell Health in 2002 and has 20 years of experience as an emergency physician. He serves as an associate dean for the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University.
He also is president of the Jason Kinzler Family First Foundation, a non-profit organization offering financial aid to families with children who have experienced the loss of a primary caregiver.
Chad Tuttle, Corewell’s chief operating officer, said Kooistra understands being on the frontlines of the healthcare system. “Josh leads with heart and humility,” Tuttle said in a statement. “He has a deep connection to our teams and the communities we serve in West Michigan — it was clear he was the right person for this role.”

University of Iowa Health Care announces first physician executive
Bevan Yueh, MD, has been named the inaugural chief physician executive for University of Iowa Health Care.
Yueh will begin his new role at UI Health Care on July 31. He will also serve as a professor in the department of otolaryngology—head and neck surgery in the Carver College of Medicine.
UI Health Care said Yueh’s role will be to coordinate care across the system’s hospitals, physician groups and other sites of care.
Yueh serves as the vice dean for clinical affairs at the University of Minnesota Medical School and chief executive officer of University of Minnesota Physicians.
Denise Jamieson, MD, UI vice president for medical affairs and the Tyrone D. Artz Dean of the Carver College of Medicine, said Yueh is “a nationally recognized physician leader who will bring a fresh vision for improving operations.”
“I’m excited to welcome him to UI Health Care and partner with him to further develop our system-wide clinical standards as we evolve as a clinical care enterprise,” Jamieson said in a statement.

Johns Hopkins appoints senior VP of physician enterprise
After serving in an interim capacity, Sarah Johnson Conway, MD, has been announced as the senior vice president for the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians and Physician Group Practice.
Conway had served on an interim basis since November 2023.
A Harvard University graduate with a degree in economics, Conway began her career as an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs. She later earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Conway will work with Johns Hopkins’ top leaders to steer the direction of the system’s clinical practice. She will serve as president of the Johns Hopkins Medical Management Corporation.
Kevin Sowers, president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine, praised Conway’s credentials.
“Widely respected for her collaborative leadership, strategic insight into physician alignment, expertise in value-based care and strong commitment to community health, Conway’s broad experience across both the clinical and operational spheres uniquely positions her to lead our physician enterprise into the future,” Sowers said in a statement.
